Give Now to the Nehemiah Project

Tomorrow's Blessing from Today's Harvest

2008 Rev. Dan Brown | Nehemiah Capital CampaignLast Sunday morning, as I stepped into the pulpit and right before I read the scripture lesson for the day, I said to the congregation, This is an exciting time in the life of our church. As one preacher joked with his congregation one morning, I wasnt just preaching, I was telling the truth. This is an exciting time in the life of Trinity on the Hill.

One of the main reasons for this, of course, has to do with the support for the Nehemiah Project. As most of you know, the Nehemiah Project is a plan to properly position this church for growth for the next couple of decades. It involves making sure the church has the right tools, the right staff, the right message and the right facilities for that growth. The immediate concern has to do with the facilities.

As you are probably also aware, immediately following the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service on July 26, we had a Church Conference to vote on the preliminary plans, cost estimates, and proposed financial plan for the $7 million renovation of the sanctuary and addition to our youth building. My best guess is that somewhere between two and three hundred people were present. A whole series of questions were asked, indicating people were taking the matter very seriously. Then a vote was taken and unanimously approved.

Did you notice those words, unanimously approved? Ive been involved in a number of building programs through the years. I think that is the first time I have seen building plans unanimously approved by a Church Conference.

No doubt in the days ahead, as we engage in the Capital Campaign and make final plans for this particular aspect of the Nehemiah Project, there will be more questions, concerns, and maybe even a disagreement or two. However, what is so exciting to me is that together we share a common vision that God is not yet finished with us. We still believe God can do great things in and through this little corner of the Kingdom of God called Trinity on the Hill.

During the months of September and October we will hold the active phase of the Capital Campaign. Our theme will be, Tomorrows Blessings from Todays Harvest. In preparation for that capital campaign, let me ask you to do two things. First, be in prayer that God will move through this congregation in some profound ways. Second, put a red circle around Thursday, October 15 and plan to be with us for an historic Nehemiah Project Harvest Banquet. Believe me, you wont regret it. See you Sunday, if not before. Until then

Blessings,
Dan Brown
