Student Ministries Leadership Announcement

July 18, 2023

Reverend Roy McVeigh has served as a Youth Minister for the past 40 years including 27 years at Trinity on the Hill. During his time at Trinity, in addition to his Youth Ministry responsibilities, he has contributed to the ministries of Trinity by serving or assisting in multiple staff leadership roles including Recreation Ministry and Men’s Ministry and for the past 2 years has provided staff oversight and leadership with CareForce and Senior Adult Ministries. Roy’s service in ministry has touched the lives of countless people of all ages both inside and outside the walls of Trinity on the Hill.

During the past 2 years in consultation with Roy, plans have been developed for Roy to transition full time to CareForce and Senior Adult Ministries as well as continue his responsibilities with Men’s and Recreation ministries. Effective August 1, Roy will fully transition to the role of the Minister of Senior Adults and CareForce. We are pleased that Roy will be serving full time in this important ministry of our church. We look forward to an exciting vibrant ministry for senior adults under Roy’s leadership.

Olivia Shepherd, who joined the Trinity staff last September, will serve as the Interim Director of Student Ministries effective August 1. She has worked with Roy since joining the Trinity staff and has agreed to serve in this capacity until a full-time long-term Director of Student Ministries is hired. Olivia and her husband are discerning if God is calling them to leave the Augusta area when he completes his dental residency mid-year 2024.

Please join me in encouraging and thanking Roy and Olivia as they move into their new roles in their service to God and Trinity. We will be given the opportunity to personally express our gratitude and appreciation to Roy at a churchwide celebration in September honoring him for serving as the Youth Minister of Trinity on the Hill for 27 years.

We are committed to encouraging youth to experience the love of Jesus Christ each and every day. We have a strong tradition of building a community where students may come and seek the Lord during a number of activities. Through weekly Bible studies, student groups, retreats, and much more, we desire to help each and every individual to be encouraged and strengthened in their faith. Our goal is to give students a clear view of who Jesus is despite the somewhat skewed view that we find in today’s society. We invite you to join us as we seek to grow together in Him!
