Friday Outreach Launch Dinner & Events

Come celebrate and fellowship together! Dinner will be served (reservations needed - love offering appreciated).

  • Dinner Served 5:30 - 6:30 pm
  • Launch Event 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Children (5 to 5th grade) will go to a special program led by Children's Ministry leaders. At least one parent needs to accompany the children from each family. Following their fun worship time, they will divide into two groups to assemble "Goodness" bags and cards for our local veterans. These will be delivered Saturday as the "Children's Outreach" Hands Day project. All children & parents can participate with registration, even if you cannot participate in the Saturday Hands Day delivery.

Hands Day Projects

Saturday, February 1

  • 8 am - Noon; come early for coffee and refreshments in the Gathering Area
  • Meet in the Sanctuary at 8 am for devotion, prayer, and Hands Day project instructions

There are a wide variety of service projects available, many of them suitable for the whole family, including a special mission opportunity for the children. This year we've also added one Red Cross training event for adults. Please read the description of each activity carefully for any restrictions attached to particular projects, and register for the project of your choice. There are a limited number of spots available for some projects, so register early!

Hands Day Registration

Master's Table Courtyard

Volunteers will distribute toiletry items in a bag to the clients who are gathering in the courtyard waiting for lunch to be served.

  • Location: 702 Fenwick St, Augusta (next to Master's Table Soup Kitchen)
  • Team Captain: Erica Perry
  • Age Requirement: 13 (minimum) if accompanied by an adult
  • Supplies: Provided by Trinity. The bags will be sorted & assembled prior to riding down to the venue.

Mats for the Homeless

Flatten plastic bags, cut them into strips, tie strips into plastic "yarn" and crochet the yarn into mats for distribution to the homeless community.

  • Location: Trinity (Room TBA)

  • Age Requirement: All ages
  • Supplies needed: Participants can bring sewing cutting boards, scissors and plastic grocery bags.

New Bethlehem Community Center

Replace broken windows; paint

  • Location: 1336 Conklin Ave, Augusta
  • Team Captain: Terry Surrency
  • Age Requirement: Teens with supervision and adults
  • Supplies Needed: Provided by organization

Rise Against Hunger

Package meals of rice, vitamins and dehydrated vegetables to be shipped to various underserved countries around the world. A great family project, but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Location: Wesley Hall at Trinity
  • Team Captain: Mike Bedsole
  • Age Requirement: 5 and older (ages 5-12 can only be "runners," which means they take the sealed bags to the trucks)
  • Supplies needed: Provided by organization

Maxwell House

Prepare and paint a room (approximately 8 x 8).

  • Age Requirement: Adults
  • Supplies needed: Provided by organization

Faith Food Factory

Sorting, inspecting and organizing food donations; repacking food; packing/weighing food boxes; sorting/packing produce, frozen meat, veggies, etc. Volunteers inspect food for quality before GHFB distributes it to soup kitchens and food banks in Georgia & SC.

Red Cross Training

This is a training event sponsored by the American Red Cross to help prepare volunteers for running a shelter for evacuees as needed. Upon registration, each person will receive an email with instructions on how to prepare for the training on Hands Day and how to apply to be a volunteer.

  • Age Requirement: 18 years and older

Playground Clean Up

Complete various tasks to refurbish the playground, including: replace rotten wood on the playhouse & other areas, stain & paint wooden structures, refresh the sand box & wood chips, and build benches.

  • Team Captains: Matt & Leanna Dyches
  • Age Requirement: 10 and older with parent supervision
  • Supplies needed: Will be provided

Children's Outreach Project

Make crafts with and deliver handmade cards to our local veterans.

  • Location: TOTH Chapel & Room A-153. Travel to the Blue Goose, St. John's Towers & the VA
  • For those registering for this project, meet in the Chapel at 9:00 a.m. for Children's Worship followed by activities and refreshments.
  • Team Captain: Gail Fitzpatrick
  • Age Requirement: 5-K through 5th Grade
    A parent/guardian must accompany children and provide transportation to deliver crafts and cards.
