Our Values
We value Biblical Truth, Transformation and Disciple Making.
Biblical Truth: We believe there is an absolute truth that is anchored in the Old and New Testaments. We come to know Christ when we abide in and apply His unchanging Holy Word to our daily lives.
Psalm 119
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
Transformation: We are a broken people living in a broken world. When we confess our sins, by God’s Grace, we are completely forgiven. The Holy Spirit then begins His work of transforming us into a new creation in Christ, reconciling us to God and making us ambassadors to reconcile the world to God.
Romans 12: 2 “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”
2 Corinthians 5:17-20 “17Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 18All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: 19that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. 20We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.”
2 Corinthians 3:18 “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate[a] the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”
Disciple Making: Jesus equipped His disciples to go out and make disciples. We believe the primary way to make Christ known is by intentionally discipling a few who then in turn disciple a few.
Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
Ephesians 4:11-16 “11So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, 12 to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up 13until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ. 14Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of people in their deceitful scheming. 15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.”
1 Peter 2:9-10 “9But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. 10Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.”
1 Timothy 2:1-2 “1You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
Our Behaviors
The behaviors we strive to live out are: We Study and Apply God’s Word, We Invest in a Few and We Serve the Needs in our City.
We Study and Apply God’s Word: God has called us to be a church that holds firmly to the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. This means daily encountering God in Scripture, hiding God’s Word in our hearts, and living the Word out in our lives.
James 1:25
Psalm 119:9-11
Jude 1:3
We Invest in a Few: Jesus’ primary method of transforming the world was by intentionally investing in the lives of a few. God’s desire for the world is that every person would be meaningfully invested in, and meaningfully investing in others.
Matthew 4:19-20
Proverbs 27:17
2 Timothy 2:2
We Serve the Needs in our City: Jesus has saved us in order that we may do good works to bring him glory. Just like Jesus, we strive to meet the physical needs around us in order to display the love and mercy of God. We long to see the city of Augusta transformed through the power of the gospel, so that no one would be able to come through our town without encountering the love of God through his people. We believe this focus of serving our city will radiate out into the world as God moves through people and relationships.
Jeremiah 29:5-7
Acts 4:32-35
Titus 3:14
